About Employment Services
There has been a recent restructure in employment services available to people with a disability. A person with a disability can choose between a Mainstream Job services Australia Provider or a Disability Employment Service. The Victorian Government also has the Career Start graduate program to support recent graduates with a disability. Please see below.
The new Disability Employment Services will commence from 1 March 2010 and all job seekers with disability will have access to individually tailored employment services while employers will have access to greater support.
Disability Employment Services are available only people to with a permanent (or likely permanent) disability, and provide longer term, more personalised support to build capacity, look for work and stay in employment.
Victoriaworks for graduates with a disability is a four year program to support Victorian graduates with a disability who have a recent post-secondary qualification, into professional and semi-professional positions in the public and community sector.
Job Services Australia (JSA) is available to all job seekers and provide shorter term, personalised support to access training, look for work, and some support once in employment.
Financial assistance is available to participants to obtain work related items or training, but is subject to negotiation with each provider and level of need.
