Deaf Connect Online Meet n greet with Auslan Connections, DLOs and Auslan interpreters

Auslan Connections (AC+) are the Victorian Government’s preferred provider of the Auslan interpreter booking service for post-secondary education.
On Friday January 28th AC+ will host an online meet and greet for DLOs, Auslan interpreters and AC+ staff. The event will be an opportunity to better understand how interpreters, DLOs and booking staff work together effectively to provide access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.
Program
Auslan Connections staff will present information on
- – the AC+ interpreter booking service
- – Victorian Government subsidy for educational interpreting
- – administrative essentials
- – support AC can provide for interpreters working in the VET setting
Melinda Mindum (DLO/ Auslan interpreter, Holmesglen Institute) will discuss the importance of an effective working relationships between DLOs and Auslan interpreters, and provide examples of how interpreters can work effectively with their DLO.
Joe Sabolcec (Manager, deafConnectEd) will discuss the support services provided by deafConnectEd, including Deafness Awareness training, mentoring for students, and Educational Signbank.
Opportunities for questions will be provided throughout the session.
